This section documents how artists combined natural and art materials. They did so without instruction. It was an intuitive, subjective process. Most artists tried more than one art material or built more than one material into their correspondence.
Several artists sewed with needle and thread.
These constructs with thread use natural materials from foraging.
This artist created a sculpture and used a leaf to print on paper.
One drew her puppy with ink (for the first time). Another combined natural materials only.
Artists added Post-its about their correspondence and interiority with art materials.
Correspondence
I was thinking about the texture and how to communicate it.
learning how much the ink bleeds and learning how much liquid each brush can hold.
camouflage, invisibility
wire and metal – circular patterns repetition, colors connecting
fragility, ephemeral, temporal
Interiority
excitement to learn and play with something new
finding joy in failure
twisting – splatter – dot making
repetition – pattern – slow down
emergence – slow change
